The library/media tech teacher is a great opportunity to work with literary materials, technology, and media.

Library/Media Tech Teacher Tasks

The library/media tech teacher does more than give a warm smile and a wink after checking out her favorite book. Tasks within this profession include maintaining an organized facility and educating others on how to use the most important resource in a student’s world: the library.

Library skills can’t be taken for granted – not even in today’s net-connected world. The internet has done a great job at placing information online, but there’s a lot of information that’s retained in the physical library. Knowing how to use one can make the difference between the mediocre student and the student who knows how to research. That’s where you come in.

As a library/media tech teacher, you’ll help schools discover affordable tools that help facilitate learning. You’ll also make sure the school you work for provides equal access to materials – especially for disabled students.

Library/Media Tech Teacher Requirements

To work as a Library/Media tech teacher, you’ll need a master’s degree in library science (or something closely related). Additional skills in using technological devices are advantageous as well since so many schools use technology as part of its regular curriculum. Since you’ll interact with students and teach them how to use various library/media materials, you’ll additionally need a few courses child development and lesson planning. All of the above will earn you a right to the coveted teaching certification – another requirement.

Library/Media Tech Teacher Salaries

We can’t predict the exact amount you’ll earn as an library/media tech teacher since salaries depend on education, experience, location, and school type.
